Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Not only having breakfast regularly is important, having healthy breakfast is equally important. Being the first meal of the day, breakfast should be healthy enough to include balanced amount of energy, protein and other vital nutrients to start the day at a healthy note. A smoothie bowl is a perfect breakfast in this regard. It has a good blend of fruits, vegetables, milk, different kind of seeds and butters. The best part of smoothie bowl is you don’t have to gather any particular set of ingredients. You can simply throw in whatever you have at hand as long as the ingredients compliment each other.
When it comes to choosing the ingredients for a smoothie bowl, sky is the limit, literally! Be it berries, fruits like banana, apple, mango, peach, pineapple or vegetables like avocado, kale, spinach and even beetroot. Yes, include veggies which are normally difficult to incorporate and you won’t even taste them. Avocado particularly makes a great smoothie bowl ingredient. It provides that rich creamy texture without altering the overall taste.
Butters and seeds are also amazing additions to a smoothie bowl. All nut butters like peanut, almond, hazel go very well. They enhance the flavor of the bowl to the next level. Add seeds for protein – hemp, chia, flax, sunflower, pumpkin are all great additions. Nuts like walnuts, sliced almonds can always be sprinkled on top.
For an even fuller meal, add a handful of granola on the top. It adds it’s own nutrition and flavor to the smoothie bowl. Check out our recipe of very healthy homemade granola – Healthy Homemade Granola. Coconut flakes add their own unique taste as toppings.
Bananas impart enough sweetness to the bowl. If you prefer to add more sweetness, use honey. Drizzle a spoonful on top of the bowl and it tastes yummilicious! Alternatively, you can add 2-3 dates while blending. Dates add sweet flavor and keep you full for longer.

This smoothie does sound good! I have curd and oats with fruits and dry fruits for my breakfast, and a big bowl of this leaves me feeling full until lunch!
Thanks for this recipe! Pinned it. 🙂
It’s a nice change from oats and curd bowl which is amazing in itself but might get monotonous! Glad you liked it 😊
