Face & Body Scrubs – Dos and Don'ts

Exfoliation is essential to keep our skin clear of pigmentation and pore dirt. While CTM (Cleansing Toning Moisturizing) process is recommended for a cleaner skin, exfoliation is mandatory for cleaner pores. As it is a little vigorous in its application and you don’t want to touch your pores very often, it is suggested to exfoliate your skin 1-2 times a week unlike CTM which goes twice a day.

Scrubs are excellent in exfoliation and thanks to million beauty brands available in the market, we have numerous variety of these to choose from. While we can go about anything that strikes interesting to us, there are certain aspects which if considered can make us get the maximum results from these face and body scrubs. Here I am listing some of the things I learnt using these.

Face scrubs are NOT same as body scrubs

I learnt this the hard way. The skin on our face is way softer than rest of the body. This is why the exfoliation granules in face scrubs are supposed to be very very gentle and soft. On the other hand, body scrubs can be harder like sugar granules which need to provide harder exfoliation for the entire body.

Do NOT exfoliate daily

It does feel amazing when a single exfoliation makes your skin glow and makes it look so much better but you do not want to overdo this process because that will increase the number pores your skin has and increase the size of existing ones which is not a good idea.

Adhere to your skin type

It is very important to buy products according to skin type. Not only it helps getting the maximum results, it also helps in preventing the damage the products might do if chosen otherwise.

Follow with a mask

Scrubbing tends to open the pores in order to deeply cleanse. Leaving the pores open is the last thing you wan to do. Always use a calming mask/pack after exfoliation to close the pores and calm the skin down. You can also massage with a cream and then apply mask.

Hope this helps.. Stay beautiful!
